The programme of the 27th International Ballet Competition Varna 2016 has come to an end. Out of the 155 competitors from 35 countries, there were 25 finalists. The international jury, presided by prof. Vladimir Vassiliev, announced the prize-winners at a press-conference today. Tomorrow night the audience will see them for the first time, dancing as laureates on the legendary stage of the Varna Open-Air theatre.
Prof. Vladimir Vassiliev, president of the jury, addresssed the participants with the following words: “All of us, who have been at the competition before, are of the opinion that this edition is much, much stronger and more competitive than the previous one. A huge number of remarkable dancers appeared in Varna and, out of them, we had to pick the best. That is why it was not easy to come up with a decision’’.
The Varna Grand Prix is not being awarded.
