Alexander Alexandrov won second prize in the MEN category at the XX Jubilee International Ballet Competition – Varna 2002.
The premier dancer of the ballet of the Sofia Opera made his debut in the role of the wealthy warrior Solor in La Bayadere on June 1st 2014. Alexandrov is a graduate of the State Choreographic School in the class of premier dancer Biser Deyanov. After his graduation, he won a prize of the Nureyev Foundation and continued his development in the SBBS theatrical class – Zurich. He has also danced in the world-famous JBF Company (the “Young French Ballet”), the Sofia Opera and Ballet, Ballet du Capitole – France, Ballet Unternational – USA, Boston Ballet – USA. His repertoire includes roles such as Basil in “Don Quixote”, the Prince in “The Nutcracker”, James – La Sylphide (The Sylph), Mercutio – “Romeo and Juliet”, John – “Zorba the Greek”, Kaschei – “The Firebird” and etc. He is a holder of a bronze and a gold medal in two editions of the “Anastas Petrov” Ballet Competition. He has been awarded in Helsinki, Finland and in Osaka, Japan. Earlier this year, he was decorated with the prestigious “Golden Plume Prize” of the Classic FM Radio and “MAKTA” Gallery for his exceptional contribution to Bulgarian culture and art.
